In the face of the crisis ravaging Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky questions the position of his Western allies. Speaking to PBS, during the News Hour program with journalist Amna Nawaz, Zelensky asked a direct question: “Why don’t you defend Ukraine as you defend Israel?”
Zelensky blames the West for the loss of the Tripol thermal power plant, due to not providing adequate air defense for Kiev. In a comparison between Ukraine and Israel, Zelensky wonders what role NATO plays.
Commenting on the presence of NATO forces on Ukrainian territory, Zelensky says: “Some of our allies say that they cannot be present in Ukraine with certain forces, because that will be seen as if Ukraine is dragging NATO into the war. However, after the Iranian response to Israel, I would like to To ask a question: Is Israel part of NATO or not? The answer is simple: Israel is not a country in NATO, but you have helped it nonetheless.
