Clothes protest
Chinese youth resorted to an unconventional protest step, which consisted of wearing inappropriate clothes, and even “pajamas” and house slippers, in the workplace.
This is an expression of their rejection of the poor working conditions they suffer from, which include low salaries, long working hours, and bad bosses.
Chinese young people launched an online challenge entitled “Who will wear the worst clothes to work?” This challenge is a clear message directed to companies and employers.
Challenge participants used hashtags such as #grossoutfitforwork and #uglyclothesshouldbeforwork.
Participants in the challenge posted pictures and videos on social media showing themselves in unkempt and unclean clothes in the workplace, and some of them even went so far as to wear unclean pajamas and slippers in the offices.
It is worth noting that China's youth suffer from very difficult working conditions, as they receive low salaries and work long hours, in addition to dealing with bad bosses in an unhealthy work environment. This challenge comes at a time when the country is witnessing bleak economic prospects and high unemployment rates among young people.
