Members of the US Air Force found a huge alligator that had infiltrated an air base in Florida, where it was apparently seeking shade and rest under the wheels of a military aircraft.
A video clip showed a huge crocodile measuring 3 meters (10 feet) long on the airport runway at MacDill Air Force Base, which is located on the Atlantic coast, the far southeastern part of the United States.
According to the clip posted on the air base's Facebook page, wildlife officers are shown trying to control the crocodile as they try to catch it, before they finally succeed in moving it to the nearby Hillsboro River.
It is believed that the crocodile lost its way to the air base after being intimidated by a huge rival crocodile named “Elvis” who lives in the area.
As soon as the alligator was seen on the airport grounds, members of the US Air Force summoned officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
This is not the first time a crocodile has roamed the Air Force base. In 2018, a US Marine captured video footage of a huge crocodile estimated to be 3.6 meters (12 feet) long.
There are a large number of alligators in Florida, and humans are exposed to attacks from time to time. In September, a 41-year-old woman was killed after being eaten by a huge crocodile near the city of Largo, and the crocodile was seen with the woman's remains in its jaws.
