Recently, there has been an increase in the recruitment of groups to promote and abuse narcotic substances within the administrative borders of As-Suwayda Governorate, which has taken the largest share of the phenomenon of the spread of white poison because it is located on the border strip.

According to competent authorities in the governorate, there are hundreds of young people who have engaged in trafficking and promotion, along with hundreds of users, according to statistics that came based on follow-up and research broadcasts.

This prompted the civil society to take action in cooperation with the concerned authorities or even with individual initiatives to try to prevent this phenomenon and to try to arrest any suspect in the case of promoting or using it. Indeed, many people in the governorate were arrested and significant quantities of the narcotic substance were confiscated and destroyed.

According to one of the prominent social figures in the governorate, quantities of narcotic substances of all kinds, including “hashish” and “Captagon,” were seized. Accordingly, during the governor’s interview, a demand was made for the necessity of establishing an addiction treatment center that should be within the “Sala” Hospital.

The issue of establishing a treatment center for drug addiction within the governorate has become a necessary matter to help individuals who have become addicted, especially to the substance “Shabu,” which requires psychological treatment before hospitalization.

  This requires the existence of a designated place to treat these conditions, equipped with specialized medical and psychological staff, which cannot exist except with the support and support of government agencies such as the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, and decision-makers.
