As the number of unemployed youth increases, new companies are emerging and urgently seeking only female employees. This raises questions about whether these startups are aiming to achieve true gender balance or if they have a deeper vision that drives them to choose exclusive female employment.
Official sources have reported that a company in Damascus - without mentioning its name - has announced the opening of its second branch and is specifically seeking female staff to work as secretaries and receptionists, with no prior experience required. The positions offer very good salaries, reaching over one million pounds, in addition to provided transportation, incentives, and the requirement that the applicant be 35 years old.
According to Syrian economic analyst Ammar Youssef, attracting females to work without males is a natural occurrence and not a phenomenon. Currently, most young men are preoccupied, and such a sum of one million pounds is not sufficient to support their families, unlike women who are not obligated to spend on their families and this amount is enough as personal expenses for them.
Furthermore, the majority of young men are preoccupied with the desire to travel at the moment. Therefore, the issue is not about attracting females, but rather the withdrawal of young men from the job market and the entry of females into the market.
On the other hand, Youssef confirms that girls today are subject to a lot of harassment and misconduct from employers who use the salary they offer as a weapon against them.
It is worth mentioning that there are indeed situations where some women are exposed to harassment, but there are also women who know how to confront these violations with strength while maintaining their ethics and self-respect. On the other hand, there are women who may be weak in facing these traps and become easy prey, and the results are undoubtedly negative.
