The price of live sheep in Syria has exceeded the threshold of four million liras, amid popular condemnation and great shock because the disaster lies after the shock, which will turn “meat” into an unattainable dream for many Syrian families.
 
Regarding the reasons, one livestock breeder attributes the high prices to the high costs of breeding, as grazing alone is not sufficient to secure the needs of the herd, so fodder, the prices of which have doubled insanely, is indispensable.

In addition to transportation fees, veterinary medicines, and other costs, which led to an increase in livestock prices, in addition to the fact that the current period of the year is a period of preparation for births, so females are less offered for sale, which reduces the supply slightly in the markets.

So that the “whole story” is reflected in the price of red meat, coinciding with the weakness of citizens’ purchasing power and the withdrawal of a large segment of its consumption scope, as a kilo of meat witnessed an increase of 15% in less than a month, reaching more than 170 thousand liras.
