Millions of people in the world are hospitalized, and even more, due to many different diseases. Someone may tell you that he was hospitalized as a result of food poisoning or that he had a surgical operation, but imagine that the reason for someone’s admission was eating a “bear meat” kebab!
This actually happened. An American family was infected with a rare parasitic disease that led to 6 of them being transferred to the hospital after they ate bear meat kebab.
Regarding the details, the family in South Dakota suffered from high fever, severe muscle pain, and swelling around the eyes, because, according to belief, the bear was carrying a parasitic disease usually caused by Trichinella worm larvae.
A week later, a 29-year-old male member of the family developed a number of symptoms synonymous with trichinosis.
He was admitted to hospital twice within a few days complaining of fever, severe muscle pain, and swelling around the eyes.
Tests later revealed that he had antibodies to trichinosis, and five other family members developed similar symptoms, some of whom suffered from stomach pain and diarrhea.
