The heart of a 4-year-old American child came back to life after stopping for about 19 hours, as the child, Cartier McDaniel, contracted a cold that his mother thought would end after a few days.
But the next day, his condition worsened, his hands and feet became cold, his mouth turned blue, dark circles appeared around his eyes, and he was unable to breathe, so he was taken to the hospital immediately.
Meanwhile, doctors told his family that he had suffered a heart attack and his pulse had stopped despite attempts to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but to no avail, so he was placed on life support devices, and the child’s injury also led to sepsis, which is the body’s severe response to infection.
His parents said that when his heart stopped, doctors told them it was "just a matter of time before the life support machine stopped working", but after 19 hours the baby's heart started beating again.
Mcdaniel's heart began to beat on its own again after 19 hours of stopping, to the astonishment of doctors, as there was no scientific explanation for this incident.
Daniel Velez, head of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Phoenix Children's Hospital, explained that the child's diagnosis is unclear because the ability of the child's brain and kidneys to recover is often unpredictable
While his parents confirmed that the boy is currently undergoing medical care in the hospital, and there is no timetable to allow him to leave.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, more than 75,000 infants and children in the United States develop acute hematitis each year.
