Smartphones are not limited to browsing the Internet, saving files, and taking a “selfie” for a special moment, but smartphone applications have become used to control almost everything to organize our surrounding world.
In this context, the French authorities allowed residents in Paris to regulate street lighting through an application on their smartphones to turn on the lights when needed.
According to the German channel ZDF, it is a money-saving and environmentally friendly idea. With one click, the street lamps on the lampposts in one of the French towns are lit, while previously the lamps remained lit all night, including financial and environmental costs, and the town has become Save a quarter of your energy costs through this application.
But it raises security concerns for others, as many have expressed their concern about theft and night thieves, although officials work to communicate with the police regularly in order to provide all the necessary needs to achieve a balance between protecting the population and protecting the environment.
