The solutions seem to have ended in front of the imam of the Al-Kilani Mosque, south of Baghdad, after a gang stormed the place, attempting to assault and kill him.
According to a video clip taken by eyewitnesses, the imam appeared to be appealing to the people from the minaret, which was his only option. All he had to do was go to it, grab the loudspeaker, and begin appealing to the people to prevent the attack.
Comments reported that the attack was carried out by family members who already live in the neighborhood, while local media announced that attackers entered the mosque with knives, confirming that two of them were arrested by security forces.
It is noteworthy that the Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Kilani Mosque in Baghdad has a great reputation among Iraqis due to its historical, religious and scientific importance.
The mosque was built in the Abbasid era, and contains an important scientific library that attracts great interest from visitors.
