Even for eating, there's a tax – the citizen will pay, and not just pay, but will focus on how to consume food. Not out of fear of poisoning, but the fear of breaking a tooth or falling victim to the decay curse that could lead his pocket to dire and harsh consequences.

For a long time, the biggest "phobia" in the lives of Syrians was the dentist's chair and the sound of his instruments drilling the heart before the tooth. Today, the shape of fear has changed, and now the fear is the amount of money he will pay to alleviate tooth pain, which might not let him sleep at night.

Tooth extraction prices in many clinics in Damascus range between 50,000 to 60,000 Syrian Pounds, unless the tooth requires surgical intervention, in which case the price increases to over 100,000 Syrian Pounds.

The cost of nerve extraction varies between 90,000 to 250,000, with general practitioners charging around 450,000 to 700,000 Syrian Pounds for the removal of the "silver thread" or "silk" without any distinction. As for filling one tooth, it costs 100,000 Syrian Pounds.

The prices for dental crowns vary according to their type: ceramic crowns cost 300,000, while zirconium ones cost 600,000. Dental implantation, on average, costs 2,300,000.

For veneers, the dentist charges around 1.5 million Syrian Pounds for one tooth. Given that this procedure aims to showcase a bright white smile, a patient may need veneers for ten teeth, totaling 15 million Syrian Pounds. Therefore, this "cosmetic" treatment, as defined by the field of dentistry, is limited to the wealthy in the country.

These prices vary from one clinic to another in the capital Damascus, and even from one street clinic to another. The more well-known and reputable the dentist, the higher the fee for the examination of vulnerability. It's worth mentioning that the price list for dental clinics, as specified by the Ministry of Health, dates back to 2012 without any updates, and everyone charges as they please.
